Fifth Town Wins Top Awards at the American Cheese Society Competition

| Local winery wins at European and U.S. Wine Competitions | ||
March was truly an exciting month for Picton's own, Black Prince Winery, winning a bronze medal standing at the Chardonnay du Monde® and four medals at the Finger Lakes International Wine competition. The 16th annual Chardonnay du Monde® wine competition held March 11-14, 2009 at Château des Ravatys, in the Burgundy wine region of France, recognizes the world’s best Chardonnay wines. The 2009 Chardonnay du Monde® encompassed 923 wine submissions from 37 countries and was judged by 300 international expert judges. Black Prince Chardonnay 2007 was among the numerous wines that were judged according to the strict rules of the International Wine Competition ŒNO 2/94 and obtained an average mark of 19* (15- 21 Bronze Medal) garnering the winery a Bronze medal standing. The Finger Lakes International Wine competition held March 29 & 30 in Rochester, New York brought together a diverse, highly skilled group of judges. Over 2,300 wines from across the U.S. and around the globe were blind tasted and awarded according to merit. Black Prince winery took home Silver medals for their Vidal Icewine 2006 and the Rieslingtraminer Icewine 2007. Bronze medals went to the Black Prince Melon de Bourgogne 2007 and Black Prince Cabernet Franc 2007.
